On May 27–28, 2026, we at Resilion took part in the 4th SINTRE, the International Seminar on Electric Power Transmission. We shared some of the thinking behind our solution, which helps prevent and monitor outages and tower collapses caused by extreme weather, sabotage, collisions and structural problems.
Below is a summary of the presentation. If you would like the full presentation, send an email to contato@resilionenergia.com.br with the subject Apresentação SINTRE.
Introduction
At the event, we showed how we combine artificial intelligence, low-cost edge sensors and the IPCC framework (Hazard × Exposure × Vulnerability) to turn weather and structural data into preventive action and fast response for transmission companies.
What sets our methodology apart
Most of the power sector still bases its decisions on broad weather alerts. But knowing that strong winds are coming to a given region is not enough to prevent a collapse.
To mitigate real risk with surgical precision, Resilion adopted the multidimensional framework developed by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), built on three pillars:
Hazard (H): The extreme physical event itself (wind gusts, lightning strikes, wildfires or heavy rain).
Exposure (E): The exact geographic location of the assets and how they interact with their surroundings, such as the type of terrain and the density of nearby vegetation.
Vulnerability (V): The real frontier, and one that solutions on the market have barely explored. It describes how each specific tower reacts to that hazard, given its age, structural design characteristics and O&M history.
By combining these three factors, Resilion dynamically calculates probabilistic fragility curves. So the platform does not just report the wind speed at the line. It calculates, in real time, the exact probability that a specific structure will fail under those weather conditions.
The Resilience Cycle
Resilion's value runs through every stage of asset management, in a continuous cycle of anticipating, reacting and learning.
BEFORE: Understand the risk and change the maintenance paradigm
Historically, transmission companies have carried out maintenance on fixed calendars or preset routines. Resilion makes it possible to move to risk-based maintenance, in which dynamic probability and the actual condition of the asset determine where and when to invest O&M resources, maximizing CAPEX and OPEX efficiency.
DURING: Fast response
During a storm or a wildfire, every minute counts. High-precision sensors confirm structural failures and physical anomalies in real time (for example, by recording spectrograms of lateral vibration in the structures). This gives the Operations Center unprecedented situational awareness, speeding up the isolation of affected sections and keeping repair crews safe before they are sent into the field.
AFTER: Quick diagnosis and learning
After a disturbance, the platform consolidates reliable data measured in the field, with exact timestamps and locations. Using AI and generative copilots, the system speeds up root cause analysis and produces detailed post-event reports for regulators. The real event also feeds back into the algorithms, recalibrating the fragility curves so the whole fleet learns from what happened.
Build a more resilient future
Anticipate. React. Learn. That is the engine behind the Resilion platform. Our goal at the 4th SINTRE was to show the market that there is a smarter, more scientific and more scalable way to protect energy assets against climate threats, sabotage and operational hazards.
With fragility curves calculated in real time and low-cost edge sensors, the move to modern risk management is within reach of your transmission company.
